What does the Trustee do?

It is first important to understand that the Court appoints a Trustee to all Bankruptcy cases.  Trustees are impartial.

In a Chapter 7 case, the Trustee oversees the payment of creditors and the liquidation of assets.  In a Chapter 13 case, the Trustee receives the payments made under the plan and pays the creditors.
