There is not a minimum amount of debt a person must have in order to file a Chapter 13 case. However, the Bankruptcy Code section 109(e) does set certain maximum limits for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. As of April 1, 2013, the Chapter 13 debt limits are $383,175 for unsecured debt and $1,149,525 for secured debt.
